Australian School of Advanced Medicine
The Australian School of Advanced Medicine provides an innovative competency-based education program featuring "hands-on learning" for surgeons and physicians. We are proud of our new facility located in the Macquarie University Clinic building which includes a state of the art surgical skills anatomy laboratory centre and simulation centre with sophisticated audio-visual equipment.
The Australian School of Advanced Medicine also boasts a prestigious research centre with 70 PhD students working alongside our team of leading scientists. We welcome applications for our Masters and PhD programs at any time.

Department of Cognitive Science
The Department of Cognitive Science is a research department which carries out research and PhD supervision across a wide range of domains of cognitive science, including memory, language, belief formation, perception in action, and reading. The Department hosts the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders which brings together researchers from the Departments of Cognitive Science, Psychology and Linguistics at Macquarie University and thirteen other national and international institutions.

Institute of Early Childhood
The Institute of Early Childhood is committed to maximising opportunities for young children, families and communities through research, teaching, learning and advocacy.
The Institute teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Undergraduate programs have two major areas of focus:
- Early Childhood Teaching (specialisation in early childhood teaching, from birth through to 12 years)
- Early Childhood Studies (specialisation in early childhood without a teaching qualification).

School of Education
The School of Education has an international reputation for the quality of its programs, research, scholarship and service to the educational community.
It offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The undergraduate programs lead both to teaching (primary and secondary) and careers in other educational contexts. Units in Education can be included as electives in a number of other undergraduate programs.
They have strong links with the broader educational community and is actively involved with education providers at all levels.

Department of Health Professions - Physiotherapy
Macquarie University is offering NSW's first Doctor of Physiotherapy with an initial midyear intake in 2012. This 3 year graduate-entry extended masters degree will provide an alternative path for those wishing to become a qualified physiotherapist after already completing an undergraduate degree with relevant pre-requisite units.
The Discipline of Physiotherapy joins the Australian School of Advanced Medicine in the Faculty of Human Sciences and is uniquely placed to have access to the new Macquarie University Hospital and Clinics. It will become part of a suite of existing and future health professional degrees (audiology, speech pathology, clinical and neuropsychology) at Macquarie University which will allow the course to offer interprofessional education in an integrated clinical setting.

Department of Linguistics
Macquarie's Linguistics Department is one of the largest and most diverse in Australia. The Department supports undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and research degree students, domestically, internationally and by distance.
The Faculty has a dynamic, inter-disciplinary teaching and research environment. There are four research centres of international standing and several clinical groups which operate collaboratively.

Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Macquarie University educates students in the scientific study of mind and behaviour. Many of our staff are international leaders in their field. Their expertise and dedication gives students a uniquely enriching experience.
Undergraduate students gain solid training through historical and contemporary research on human and animal behaviour.
Postgraduate coursework and research programs give comprehensive training in psychological research methods and statistical procedures. Our PhD and professional doctoral programs emphasise a theoretically rigorous, scientific approach.

Macquarie E-Learning Centre of Excellence
Macquarie University’s E-Learning Centre Of Excellence (MELCOE) is an international focal point for e-learning infrastructure and standards development. Macquarie is at the leading edge of best practice in e-learning, and MELCOE is a recognised leader in implementing global standards and specifications for learning technology.
MELCOE’s collaborations with educational organisations, government and commercial partners foster the adoption of the next generation of distributed e-learning and information systems.

Macquarie University Special Education Centre
The Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) is nationally and internationally recognised for the quality of its research, excellence in postgraduate teaching and contributions to program development.
Staff at the Centre include special educators, psychologists, teachers, therapists and researchers. They are involved in a variety of research projects, on and off campus, which focus on the learning and behaviour difficulties of young children and school students with special needs and disabilities.
MUSEC offers four postgraduate certificates in Special Education, a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Special Education by coursework study, in addition to higher research degrees at masters and doctoral level.
